Matthew 9:18-38

In this one passage there are so many examples of healing that it makes me want to cry.  First, Jesus heals a woman who has been suffering for twelve years.  Why?  Because of her faith in Him.  Then He raises a ruler’s daughter who has died.  Why?  Because of his faith that Jesus could do it.  Then, He heals two blind men.  Why?  Because they believed that He could.  Then, He heals a demon-possessed man who was unable to speak due to the demon and goes on to heal “all kinds of disease and every weakness and infirmity.”  Why?  Because he had pitied them because they had no one to care for them.  The leaders who were supposed to care for them were too busy with rules and regulations and looking good to show mercy.

So, I think that we need to pay attention to the last two verses:

37Then He said to His disciples, The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few.

38So pray to the Lord of the harvest to [b]force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.

That’s right, you’ve heard it before, but PRAY.  Pray that God would raise up workers for the harvest.  Pray that He would show you how to love people better (a lesson that I definitely need to learn).  Pray that you would be one of the workers.  Pray for those who are already doing the work and those who will come later.  Just pray.
